A ceramic mask artist based in Portland, OR, who draws inspiration from legendary ukiyo-e artists such as Hokusai and Kitagawa. I seek to weave my personal narrative into each piece while harmonizing the enigmatic shapes and forms commonly found in Japanese folklore.

Process
Each mask begins as a hand-sculpted form in wet clay, shaped without molds to preserve the organic imperfections that give every piece its own character. After bisque firing, layers of custom-mixed glazes are applied and the piece is fired again at high temperature. Select works are finished with gold leaf detailing using traditional kintsugi-inspired techniques.
